ISDS, Inc offers an innovative solution to this problem, the incorporation of 3 Dimensional Modeling for Fire Alarm Design as part of our CAD services. 3 Dimensional Modeling provides a greater perspective of any given device, installation and location in question, including true height, distant, dimension, application and code compliance. A 3 Dimensional Modeling also provides a clear solution that can identify potential obstacles or obstructions pertaining to the installation of notification appliances, initiating devices, system design, and service inaccessibility regardless of their application. OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION: Group R-2, Congregated Living Facility
INSTALLATION TYPE: Fire alarm design of horn strobe within kitchen/dining area.
AHJ Review of Plans
Rejection requiring plans revision: AHJ was unable to determine if kitchen counter presented a possible obstruction or if the notification appliance provided adequate visual coverage to both rooms.
Modeling Solution:
The incorporation of a 3 Dimensional Modeling solution would have provided the AHJ with the ability to:
• Achieve a true perspective of the location in question
• Determine true height, distance and compliance of the notification appliance
• Correctly identify that no potential obstruction existed at the device location
